The city's downtown district is buzzing, just like it was in Ballard town. The morning routine. The drive up to work now. The business that slowly starts to drown. Since you left town, everything's the same. Since you left town. You're missing out on the industry blow-up. The cafés are filling "warehouse row." And I've discovered a new way to drive home, it reminds me of Ballard. Oh, where'd you go? Since you left town, everything's the same. Since you left town. Oh since you left, since you left town. I must admit, I tried and tried to tell myself this wasn't about you. But for the books, I cried and cried the moment I tried to forget you. I sometimes see you when I'm watching a renew of some kind of godforsaken place. The shifting purpose of loading-dock doorways, and you've disappeared without a trace. Since you left town, everything's the same. Since you left town. Oh since you left, since you left town.

To capture the sound of everything. Every microcosmic thing... The picture paints itself a bit too vividly. We don't even have to try to see how the story ends in a world full of fancy friends. To give you a hand with everything. Every uneventful thing... It takes your breath away till there's no need to breathe. We don't even have to try to see how the story ends in a world full of fancy friends. Every microcosmic thing... A bit too vividly. Every uneventful thing... Till there's no need to breath.

Is it true, man? Yes, it's true. Put your feet up! (Throw your hands up.) Is it true, man? Yes, it's true. Let your guard down! (There's a man down.) Watch over me. Watch over me. Put it all up for sale, what your eyes see. Is it real, man? Yes, it's real. Put the light out! (They use night shot.) Is it real, man? Yes, it's real. Entertain me! (Watch them watch me.) Watch over me. Watch over me. Put it all up for sale, what your eyes see.

There she sits, somewhere between the animal and the ghost. And I know her the most, 'cause I know her day-to-day. There she goes, a little too far in the ether for us, almost like she's made of dust. But I know her day-to-day. I know her day-to-day-to-day-to-day. The closer together, the farther apart. The pounding of one two-sided heart. "Leave all the guessing to me. I can retrofit her smile to mean anything, oh anything, I want it to mean." There she was, such a part of my life, many days, as it were, I simply failed to notice her, 'cause I knew her day to-day. I knew her day-to-day-to-day-to-day. The closer together, the farther apart. The pounding of one two-sided heart. "Leave all the guessing to me. I can retrofit her smile to mean anything, oh anything, I want it to mean." There she went, my one-sided tale, and that's all that there is. With a boom and then a fizz. And I knew her day-to-day. I knew her day-to-day. I knew her... Day-to-day.
